Clan Castle reinforcement troops part 1 (Regular troops) by Sir Antalot
Leningrad Sep 1941 – January 1944 an estimated 1 million dead in a city under siege for over two years. Thermopylae 480bc – 300 Spartans defended against a massive Persian invasion, all 300 lives lost.
What do both these historical events have in common? No Clan castle reinforcements!
So with the importance of a little extra help established, what help should you ask for? First of all, look at your base design…what is its weakness? Is it weak against a mass goblin rush, a dragon attack or Giants with healers? Knowing this is important to knowing what your request should be!!
Barbarians
A solid choice for ground attacks, particularly in mass numbers. The barbarian is quick enough and strong enough to deal with an archer attack or a giant attack. However unless you practice the dark arts, predicting a mass ground attack is near impossible…so perhaps not the choice for you.
Rating 4/10
Archers
Probably the most common reinforcement and at Level 4+ a dangerous enemy. The archer is capable taking on both land and air attack. However is also able to be attacked by land and air – not to mention a well placed lightning spell. This is a budget reinforcement troop…if you are new to your clan or your donations are lower than what you have taken….expect nothing more.
Rating 6/10
Wizards
Wizards deal a large amount of damage and as a bonus, splash damage too! Getting further in the game you start to see more of these hooded death bringers. A very solid request due to his range and attack power, however they take 4 spaces so you need a high level donator to feel the full effect. Again weak to a lightning spell…but harder to hit. Generally speaking you can sleep easy knowing you have wizards to defend you…but is there anything better?
Rating 8/10
Goblins
What’s this? Goblins in your clan castle? Does this mean your clan hates you? Does it mean you are being trolled? …Probably, but all is not lost! For defence the goblin has its merits. Like a barbarian it can deal good damage, unlike a barbarian they die if you so much as sneeze on them…but they are fast and can intercept a low level ground attack quite respectably! Probably not high on the request list however.
Rating 4/10
Wallbreakers
I have seen clans kick people for Wall breaker donations. But why? You see Wall breakers come flooding out a Clan Castle, what do you do? Do you risk dropping more troops to kill them before they blow or accept the death of your first wave as an ultimate sacrifice? Honestly though after the initial BOOM they are gone so probably a poor choice.
RATING 2/10
Dragon
Ok lets get serious, these fire breathing lizards from hell are awesome, no doubt. If you are in a clan that has a few members capable of making them and you have the 20 spaces required to house one…GREAT! If you get a level 2 upwards Dragon double GREAT!! But….if your base design is not right you may find not as great as you had hoped. For dragons to be truly effective your clan castle needs to be well inside your base. The Dragon can easily be taken down by a circle of even basic archers so keeping it in the centre will stop him being lured out and taken down before he has a chance.
RATING 9/10
Giants
No one really considers Giants as a very effective defensive troop. They are slow and even asthmatic snails can beat them in 100m sprint! But having said that they can soak up a lot of damage and there slowness means they are difficult to lure out. They are more useful at slowing an enemy attack than stopping it and work well if you have a funnel base plan. Having said that not really recommended due to the space they take up…Barbarians can do the same job and have a higher attack rate.
RATING 4/10
P.E.K.K.A
This giant samurai robot knight woman takes up 25 spaces in a clan castle. So will more often than not be out of your reach. If you do have 25 spaces in your clan castle then you may wish to try her. However she will slowly lumber out of the clan castle and will most likely be alone. Do you want a lone P.E.K.K.A…probably not (more than once anyway). My least favourite troop it has to be said but I must remain impartial….err she has good attack power.
RATING 3/10
Balloons
If you consider balloons a poor man’s dragon then you can begin to understand how useful they are. They have good attack power and are slow enough not to be lured out. They are weak against the ranged attack of an archer and if the enemy attacks with balloons….what then? a fist fight in mid air? The do have their merit however. Lower level guys up to housing a dragon may find these floating wall breakers a useful choice.
RATING 5/10 (up to housing a dragon)
RATING 4/10 (if you can use a dragon)
Healer
A healer in your clan castle will do nothing more than slightly heal a builder’s hut before it is destroyed. They are beyond useless for defence and likely the enemy will share their replay so the whole clan can laugh. Don’t be a victim!
